Su Qian (pronounced Suchen) is a Licensed Master Social Worker from New York. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from City College of New York and earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work, with a certificate in Mental Health, from Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work. She has experience working as a School Social Worker and has helped children and adolescents work through various issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, interpersonal problems, low self esteem, and grief and loss. She has worked with both individuals and groups and likes to bring creativity into the sessions. Su Qian integrates various therapy modalities in her treatment, which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and art and music therapy. She views her clients through a strength-based and person-in-environment lens, and strives to understand her clients’ various intersecting identities. She believes that the clients are the expert in their own lives and is passionate about being a part of their support system. Her empathy and compassion help her build strong therapeutic relationships and she has confidence in the resilience and strength within her clients.
